About COD

Professional technology help, from actual humans.

We like technology. You don’t have to. COD exists so small businesses can spend less time thinking about computers, networks, websites and software — and more time running the business they actually wanted to build.

The COD approach

Have a problem? We’ll figure it out.

Small businesses rarely have technology problems that fit neatly into one category. A slow application may really be a network problem. A website project may expose an outdated business process. A camera installation may uncover poor Wi-Fi coverage. A spreadsheet may have quietly become a mission-critical system.

COD works across those boundaries. We design websites, support day-to-day IT, build networks, right-size computers and infrastructure, and create focused software when the right tool simply doesn’t exist.

We’re not married to the solution. We’re married to solving the problem. Sometimes that means a proper server. Sometimes it means a $300 mini PC. Sometimes the answer is surprisingly simple. Complexity has to earn its place.

Why small business

Right-sized is a feature.

COD is intentionally built around small businesses and owner-operated environments. Those organizations need reliable technology every bit as much as larger companies do, but they usually do not need layers of account teams, oversized projects or technology selected to satisfy an enterprise sales quota.

Sometimes the right answer is a complete managed-services relationship. Sometimes it is a better network, a better website or a purpose-built application. And sometimes the best advice is simply not to replace something that already works.

How we work

A few things we care about.

The technology changes constantly. These principles do not.

Practical

If the inexpensive, simple answer solves the problem, that’s the answer. We don’t sell complexity for sport.

Human

No acronym Olympics. We’ll explain what matters in normal language and handle the technology you don’t want to think about.

Creative

We like the odd problems. If the standard answer doesn’t fit, we’ll poke at it, think about it and figure out another way.

The COD name

Still part of the Computing on Demand story.

Computing on Demand became a technology news and review site. CODWebHosting originally grew beside it to handle web hosting and web services. Over the years, COD’s service work expanded while the original name remained familiar.

Today, CODWebHosting is the small-business technology services company: web and brand, managed IT, networking, infrastructure and software. The name reflects where we started; the work reflects where our customers took us.

Got a weird one?

Excellent. Tell us what you’re trying to do, what’s broken, or what’s driving you crazy. We got this.
